WHY I PHOTOGRAPH

For more than 30 years, I built a career in the corporate world, leading teams, solving problems, and creating experiences. I loved the work, but life moved quickly. There was always another meeting, another flight, another deadline.

Photography became my way of slowing down.

While navigating some of life's unexpected challenges, I discovered that a single image could offer solace amidst the chaos.

Those moments changed the way I see photography.

Today, when I head out before sunrise with my kayak or paddleboard, wander Wisconsin's forests, or travel in search of wildlife and beautiful landscapes, I'm not simply looking for the perfect image.

I'm looking for the moments that made me pause.

The quiet before sunrise.

The conversation between a pair of loons.

The split second before an eagle takes flight.

The light that transforms an ordinary place into something unforgettable.

I want my photographs to offer the same gift those hospital images gave me.

Whether someone spends thirty seconds or thirty minutes with one of my photographs, I hope they're able to step away from the demands of everyday life. I hope they find a moment of peace, inspired to see the world a little differently, or reminded of a place they love.

Because sometimes all we need is a moment.

A moment to slow down.

To notice.

To breathe.

If my photographs can bring a sense of calm, spark a memory, or inspire someone to discover beauty they might have otherwise overlooked, then I've accomplished exactly what I set out to do.

Thank you for being here.

I hope my wanderings inspire a few of your own. Because the most extraordinary moments are often waiting in the places we least expect.
